MT. MARKHAM 2nd GRADE CONTINUES CHRISTMAS TRADITION
Wednesday, December 21, 2016
Once again, the second grade classes at Mt. Markham Elementary school conducted their annual Christmas donation for the animals at the Herkimer County Humane Society. This event has been ongoing for 10+ years and the school always delivers in a huge way. The kick-off began on Tuesday, December 6th when shelter volunteer, Jodi Flo and “niece”, Myrna Korce went to the school and presented a program on animal responsibility, pet safety and what the shelter does to all the second graders. The students then started a collection for the animals at The Herkimer County Humane Society. On Wednesday, December 21st, Jodi, “Myrna”, and fellow volunteer and Myrna Mom, Joy Korce went to pick up the donations and they had a truck full!
The shelter would like to thank all the students for their efforts and also a thank you to their teachers, Mrs. Carney, Mrs. Jeffers, Mrs. Powers and Mrs. Welch for inviting us to speak to their students. Because of their continued kindness, we are able to take care of our animals until they find their forever homes.
